Philippine educational institutions especially those of higher educational institutions (HEIs) are diverse and pluralistic in nature. Catholic private institutions exist side by side nonsectarian private schools and state-run colleges and universities (SUCs) offering almost the same courses. The advent of the twenty-first century have brought to the fore a marked increase in newly created and established schools, both private and public that do not only answer the demand for university education but also fulfill market demands.
The increase in the number of HEIs have created a heightened competition among colleges and universities to attract the most number of students. Such competition has driven schools to seek new ways and approaches to be adapted in its governance not only to ensure its continued existence and survival but also to address the challenges and changes in the educational environment of the 21st century.
This paper shall focus on the efforts and strategies on governance applied by LCCM which has led to its transformation from a traditional Catholic institution to a progressive educational institution of higher learning driven by innovative strategies and international standards of quality and excellence.
Specifically, it shall look into its blueprint of transformation through quality management system (QMS), identify critical issues, outline administrative solutions to the problems and issues, analyze the institution’s dynamics of change stress and explore the process of its effective stewardship.
