Both ISSN and EISSN are standard international codes that identify any serial publication. These are independent of their country of publication, language or alphabet, frequency, and medium of publication.
The ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) applies specifically to print publications. On the other hand, the EISSN (Electronic International Standard Serial Number, also known as "ISSN Online") applies to electronic or digital media. It is a different code and allows libraries and databases around the world to facilitate the indexing and cataloging of journals.
Yes. We will, however, ask you to obtain an EISSN from the National Library of the Philippines upon signing the agreement. We will just update your journal details once you obtain your EISSN.
The National Library of the Philippines is an ISSN National Center and can assist you in processing the ISSN request for your publication. To submit a request via the National Library, please follow these steps:
-
Go to web.nlp.gov.ph/nlp/?q=node/643
Note: In case the link doesn't redirect you to the page on how to get ISSN, please click ISSN > Services > ISSN to find the detailed instructions - Follow the instructions, ensuring that you have the complete information for the ISSN (print, online, or both) that you're requesting.
- Once completed, please go to portal.issn.org/ to verify with the ISSN International Center that the ISSN has been registered and is searchable. Please note that the transmission to the ISSN International Center might take some time.

- Timeliness of publication
- Good citation records
- International diversity of authors
PEJ can help you meet these criteria by:
- Providing you with a cost-effective way to publish and deliver your journal to international readers. This reduces your concerns about production and delivery and, in turn, assists you in maintaining the timely publication of your journal.
- Exposing your journal articles to global researchers so they can be cited in international journals.
- Giving you the opportunity to gain online article submissions from global researchers that may contribute to the diversity of authors in your journal.
