Abstract:

An academic is an institution designed for the teaching and learning of students. It is the first and foremost social institution having an identifiable structure and a set of functions meant to preserve and extend social order. As such, its primary function is to move and empower young people in the mainstream of society. This is where the reality is being taught by the teachers in professional, formal and structured way. Hence, in school there is a set of curricula which includes knowledge subjects, skills subjects and enabling subjects wherein the teachers facilitate learning and teach certain types of acceptable behaviors, and see to it that learners develop in all aspects: physically, emotionally, socially, and academically.
