Ma. Niña I. Adriano

Abstract:

The purpose of this descriptive study was to find out if the research perception and research competence of faculty members of Baliuag University translate to actual research outputs. Two instruments were used in the study: one was adopted from Chavez (2013), which measured the respondents’ perception of research, and the other is the research competence instrument by Abarquez and Palbacal (2013). Using total population sampling, 161 faculty members of Baliuag University were surveyed during the first semester of 2016-2017. Results revealed that faculty members had a positive perception of research. Moreover, faculty members perceived themselves as either moderately competent or very competent in doing various parts of a research paper. However, a positive perception towards research and a positive perception of research competence did not translate to actual research outputs.
