Abstract:

The effective organization of school activities requires that a teacher possesses a certain amount of knowledge and particular attitudes and skills known as teaching competence. Thus, teacher competence may include the ability to convey units of knowledge, application, and skills to students in a most appropriate way. In this study, the current teaching competency of teachers has been examined. The respondents include twenty Grades 1 to 10 teachers and four subject coordinators at Baliuag University. The researchers utilized a quantitative descriptive research design through a survey questionnaire to explore the teaching competencies of the target teachers based on the seven domains of the teacher performance and development framework. The findings of the study revealed that the overall weighted mean distribution of responses on the seven domains is 4.29 or advanced level of achievement as perceived by the faculty and subject coordinators. There is no significant relationship between the profile and the competencies of teachers. Moreover, there is no significant difference in the ratings of teachers and subject coordinators. The results of this research could serve as basis for the development of a teaching enhancement program.
