Abstract:

This study wanted to describe the significant life experiences of ex-prisoners after being released from jail. The respondent of our study are the seven (7) ex-prisoners who were previously incarcerated in Butuan City Jail and Agusan Del Norte Provincial Jail and now live freely in the community. They have been identified based on the available data from Barangay 6, Nasipit, Agusan Del Norte. Applying qualitative research design through face-to-face interviews with the aid of an interview guide to seven respondents. Findings revealed that all respondents are male. There were seven respondents, of which seven of them had five married then, two single they have a problem of unemployment after their release. For years of sacrifices and loneliness inside the correctional institution, nothing compared to happiness experienced by ex-prisoners after their release from jail. However, going back to the community with such a notable previous record is quite challenging. The problems and challenges faced by ex-offenders find out how they cope with these challenges that lead to success. Also, they felt that the people do not fully trust them in the community where they reside except their family, so they keep doing things that can regain such trust.
