Experience of stress is considered to have effect on coping and well-being. Though coping may be relative, student-athletes, as respondents in this study need to master the most effective way to cope with stressful situations related to everyday challenges in their academics and engagement in competitive sports activities. This study explored the perceived stress and sports psychological skills of 81 student-athletes of De La Salle Araneta University. The relativeness of perceiving stress and sports psychological skills between male and female athletes was investigated with the goal of getting a baseline information for improving the athletics program that is sensitive to the differing needs of student –athletes. Using Pearson correlation coefficient and t-test for independent samples, findings showed that perceived stress is associated to coping with adversity, concentration, confidence and achievement motivation, and freedom from worry. Also, as hypothesized in this study, there is significant difference between male and female athletes’ perceived stress and sports psychological skills.
