At present, concrete is the second most used material for construction after water in the world. Gigantic towers, monuments, and tall structures are always supported by a very thick layer of concrete. Concrete itself, however, is a brittle material and has low tensile strength. So, reinforcement is given to concrete which takes the form of rods, bars, or mesh. After some time, concrete admixtures were invented. Mineral admixtures include ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), which has proven its benefits in the construction industry. The proponents proposed the design of a two-story commercial building using GGBS concrete as additive material. The project aimed to design the complete architectural and structural plan of a commercial building with emphasis on structural members using ETABS and SAFE in accordance with NSCP 2015 and NBCP. MS Excel was used for estimation of material and labor costs until the completion of the project. The project was successfully designed to resist live, dead, earthquake, and wind loads. Also, types and dimensions of each structural member was determined. The proponents recommended to design the commercial building with GGBS and further improve its structural analysis, the future designer must also provide electrical and plumbing plans.
