EMBRACING THE ROLE OF LEARNING FACILITATORS DURING THE NEW NORMAL

Abstract:

The research was conducted to determine how the parent-participants embrace their role as facilitators of learning during the new normal. It utilized the qualitative-descriptive method of inquiry. The data of the research were collected through phone interview and web chat utilizing semi-structured interview questions and tailored follow-up questions depending on the answers of the participants. Purposive sampling was used in the determination of participants to make sure they fit the profile needed in the study. The results showed that the participants' embracing of their role as facilitators of learning is reflected by the following themes: familial love; positive reinforcement; and, patience and understanding. Their suggestions for empowerment as facilitators cover: enlightenment on the content of the curriculum; strategies for promoting home learning, and child psychology along socio-emotional characteristics of children.
