This quantitative study determined the work competencies and attributes demanded by the HR Managers from the selected companies in hiring HRM graduates applying to be employed in an HR position in the different industries and organizations. It surveyed Human Resource Managers from People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) CALABARZON Chapter from various industries. Weighted mean and percentage were the statistical methods used in analyzing the gathered data. Findings revealed that the work competencies and attributes sought from a candidate varies according to the type of industry; and it will benefit the companies to have a good pool of applicants. As recommendation, the researchers encouraged the curriculum makers to include in the current HRM Program competencies in other certain programs. These competencies can be acquired to build the students’ HR expertise. The administrators should update and align the HRM program to the changes in the human resource field, especially its goals, scope, as well as the relevance of the lessons being discussed in the subjects. The students’ ethical practice may be strengthened through providing activities based on ethical teachings and moral values; their relationship management could be developed through exposure to the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system whose goal is to improve the customer service relationship to help in the retention of the satisfied customers. The learners’ critical evaluation skills may be increased through exploring courses related to this competency and not just to focus on the strategic decision making. The researchers also recommended that future researchers take interest in conducting related studies and to use this research as a reference.
