Career Adaptability and Workplace Dignity of Faculty of Private School in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental

Abstract:

An educational institution should be aware of the level of career adaptability and workplace dignity of their employees for the welfare of the faculty and the productivity of the school. This study determined the career adaptability and workplace dignity levels of 101 teaching personnel at a private school in Bacolod City. The descriptive-correlational design was utilized using an adapted and modified validated and reliable survey questionnaire. Collectively, the faculty have very high career adaptability and workplace dignity. Results also showed no significant difference in the level of career adaptability and workplace dignity when faculty were grouped according to department, age, and sex. However, results showed a significant difference for both variables when grouped according to the length of service. Finally, this study found a positive correlation between career adaptability and workplace dignity. It can be concluded that faculties can cope with and overcome changes and challenges. The ability to make self-adjustments in the career scene for self-control to cope with tasks, transitions, or trauma, as well as to anticipate all possibilities in the future, may be considered by the school administrators when conducting guidance and counseling. On the other hand, to uphold workplace dignity, the administrators may look into the possibility of using proactive conflict resolution techniques and early interventions for shorter-tenured and tenured workers, such as mediation, that can prevent and resolve issues with workplace decorum.
