WORK COMMITMENT AND PROFESSIONAL WELFARE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS AMIDST PANDEMIC

Abstract:

This study aimed to determine the correlation between teacher engagement in the essential teaching skills among the teachers in the south district of Laak, Davao de Oro. The researcher employed the nonexperimental quantitative design utilizing the descriptive method of research. The respondents of this study were teacher II to Master teacher I, elementary teachers of Laak South District Davao de Oro who have undergone evaluations and also experienced being evaluators. In selecting the respondents, the researcher identified the 150 total population of teachers by the used of pure random sampling. The researcher employed two sets of instruments which were adapted and modified from the study of the Massachusettes Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (2018) on the Massachusetts Model System for Educator Evaluation and work commitment from the study of Abucayon et al. (2016) to ensure the appropriateness of the study. Findings showed that the level of teacher engagement of teachers is described as high, which means that the teacher engagement of teachers is oftentimes observed, while the level of essential teaching skills of teachers is described as high, which means that the w essential teaching skills of teachers are oftentimes observed. Teacher engagement observed the degree of connection to the essential teaching skills of the teachers. It implies that the essential teaching skills of the teachers are significantly related to teacher engagement. Therefore, the domains under teacher engagement observed the degree of connection and significance to the essential teaching skills of teachers. It implies that essential teaching skills of teachers are significantly related to teacher engagement.
