THE ROLE OF RURAL SCHOOL LEADERS IN BUILDING SCHOOL- COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP

Abstract:

The main purpose of the study was to explore and investigate the roles, problems encountered, and insights learned from the rural school leaders in forging a school-community partnership. A qualitative approach to research phenomenological from the ten school leaders from the different elementary schools in Talicud District and Kaputian District on the roles of rural school leaders in forging school-community partnership were observed: guiding force, cheerleaders, network champions and set clear expectations and shared accountability. Problems encountered by rural school leaders in forging school-community partnerships were as follows: community isolation, negative sociocultural environment, creating a collaborative environment and reaching out to all stakeholders. Finally, the insights learned from the experiences of rural school leaders in forging school-community partnerships were as follows: A good support system for students, educators, and community-benefited partnership, school-community partnership a long-term strategy, and solid school-community partnership. These themes can be described as an input in the successful crafting and conduct of training for rural school leaders in capacitating them on the different strategies in forging a school-community partnership.
