Abstract:
During the onslaught of the COVID-19 Pandemic, one of the most affected sectors was Education,
both primary and higher education. Due to the sudden shift from face-to-face to modular and online
modes, teachers modified their teaching modalities. This study determines the COVID-19 Awareness,
Preparedness, and Challenges of the Teachers in Ormoc City Leyte during the Pandemic. A total of
365 teachers in the research locale were given a survey questionnaire and were treated using
percentage and frequency distribution to describe the demographic profile of the respondents,
awareness of the Covid-19 Pandemic, and preparedness in conducting distance learning. In addition,
the mean and standard deviation was used to determine the teachers' level of challenges during the
Covid-19 Pandemic. In addition, a correlation was used to determine if there is a relationship between
awareness, preparedness, and teachers' challenges in Ormoc City Leyte. The study found that teachers
were challenged with distance learning. Furthermore, the teachers were aware of COVID-19. In
addition, teachers were ready to conduct distance learning, especially in the printed module. Finally,
there were no significant associations between COVID-19 awareness, preparedness, and challenges
of distance learning.
