Abstract:

Scavenging is considered a way of life for some people living in the dumpsite of Brgy. Inayawan, Cebu City Philippines (Sunstar, 2018). It is the only skill they know as they have been doing it all their lives. In 2015, Justice Peace Integrity of Creation- Integrated Development Center (JPIC IDC) opened an opportunity to the scavengers and street dwellers in Inayawan, Cebu City, Philippines. However, with the integration and assistance from JPIC-IDC to San Pio Village, social problems still occur and need intervention. This teaching case study looked into San Pio Village's social problems and explored the activities currently undertaken by different Institutions, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), and Government Organizations. This qualitative research study was conducted in San Pio Village, Dumlog Talisay City, Cebu. The researcher used the guide questions from the Department of Business Administration, School of Business and Economics (SBE), University of San Carlos. The researchers found that Financial are the primary social Problem, with a daily deficit of Php 55.00; the reason for outstanding balance in the Cooperative. The study concluded that the social Problem still occurs even with the financial aid of Non-Government Organizations. How might we help San Pio Village?
