Developing Entrepreneurial Skills Among the Senior High School Students

Abstract:

Entrepreneurial skills among youth today are expedient in nation building. This study assessed the entrepreneurial skills of senior high school students of Samboan National High School, Samboan, Cebu for the school year 2016-2017 as the basis for the entrepreneurial plan. This study utilized the descriptive method of research using quantitative analysis of the data gathered such as percentage, frequency distribution, weighted mean, ranking, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation. There were 60 respondents randomly chosen by the researcher, 20 from Bread and Pastry Production, 20 from Beauty Care Hairdressing NCII, and 20 Electrical Installation and Maintenance students. The results of the study showed that the entrepreneurial characteristics of the respondents were significant in developing their entrepreneurial skills. In initiating small business, it can be seen that they can implement the business plan with a weighted mean of 3.13 or equivalent to satisfactory rating, while generating report has a mean of 2.25 or equivalent to the satisfactory rating. Based on the results of the study, it is hereby recommended that the proposed entrepreneurial plan which would improve the entrepreneurial skills of the respondents be implemented.
