I Am (un)safe: Implementation of Educational Pamphlet and Online Campaign (EPOC) to Increase the Level of Awareness on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) of Grade 11 Students

Abstract:

The cases of Human Immunodifficiencey Virus and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome are increasing amidst global COVID 19 pandemic. The researcher pursue this study to increase the level of awareness of Grade 11 students on HIV and AIDS through the use Educational Pamphlet and Online Campaign EPOC. The study was conducted in Tagkawayan National High School. Descriptive non-experimental research was used and employed Pre-test and Post test design to identify the level of awareness of the students. There were sixty (60) students purposively selected as respondents. On the pre-test given, Grade 11 sudents have low level of HIV and AIDS awareness especially on its causes and prevention. To adress the problem, the researcher distributed educational phamplet and organized virtual conferences with the help of the invited health professionals. Through the assisted interventions, post-test were given and it revealed that the Grade 11 students have high level of awareness. It also revealed that there is significant difference in the HIV and AIDS awareness of the respondents before and after the intervention. Therefore, Educational Pamphlet and Online Conferences EPOC were effective to increase their awareness. Thus, Tagkawayan National High School should conduct an action plan to all the enrolled students to increase their awareness. Furthermore, the program should also be endorsed to the Local Government Units so that the Rural Health Unit of Takawayan will conduct assistance to increase the awareness of the community despite the COVID 19 pandemic
