Abstract:

This study attempted to determine the involvement of stakeholders in Solid Waste Management (SWM) practices by category among the public elementary schools in the Division of Quezon. Specifically, it identified the constantly observed SWM practices, the level of involvement of stakeholders, and the significant differences on the level of involvement among stakeholders that was grouped according to various categories (school size, congressional district, type of stakeholders). Moreover, by using a quantitative-descriptive research design, the study was conducted among public elementary schools in the Division of Quezon, involving 60 sample respondents who were selected using a cluster sampling technique. A self- devised questionnaire has been used in the collection of data. Furthermore, the statistical tools employed in this study include weighted arithmetic mean and one-way ANOVA. Moreover, the study revealed that most of the schools practiced SWM constantly in regards with the initiator and segregation. On the contrary, the SWM practices regarding funding and integration were only practiced extensively among the schools. The findings also indicated that the parents and local government units’ stakeholders were highly involved in the SWM practices of schools. In addition, there are no significant differences in the involvement of stakeholders in different SWM practices of the school in each category. However, under the congressional district, the involvement of stakeholders has significant differences. Furthermore, when their involvement was groupedaccording to the type of stakeholders (i.e. Parent/Alumni/LGU/NGO), it has determined that there was a significant difference in their involvement in most of the school practices.
