Abstract:

Dariok Hills, situated in Santiago City and owned by the Missionaries of La Salette, has drawn numerous visitors due to its natural landscapes and man-made structures. The notable influx of daily visitors, particularly during the Lenten season, prompted researchers to investigate its potential as a premier tourist destination. Employing a descriptive survey, the study aimed to assess Dariok Hills' prospects in terms of attractions, accessibility, amenities, accommodation, and activities. The survey involved 467 visitors over four days. Results indicate that respondents regarded Dariok Hills as having significant potential to emerge as a top-tier tourist destination. However, accessibility emerged as a prominent obstacle to its development, attributed to challenges in transportation upon leaving the site, despite numerous available public transport options facilitating access to Dariok Hills. The critical concern lies in determining how and by whom Dariok Hills will be developed, given its private ownership. Consequently, the recommendation suggests that the Local Government Unit (LGU) takes proactive measures in developing this highly promising location as a prime tourist destination.
