Discipline: Education

Abstract:

This study examined the readiness in the implementation of distance learning system and its alignment with the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan in Jomalig District as basis for a strategic plan. Specifically, it sought to identify the level of readiness in implementation of distance learning system in Jomalig District in terms of required health standards, contextualizing of learning strategies and modalities, Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela, legal context, finance, communication and monitoring and evaluation to the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan. The study used descriptive survey method of research. The respondents were the seven (7) school heads of Jomalig District. The data were collected using self-made survey questionnaire and were statistically treated, analyzed and interpreted using frequency count, percentage, weighted mean, and ANOVA.Results revealed that the schools in Jomalig District are highly ready for the implementation of distance learning in Jomalig District aligned with the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan. In terms of required health standards, the teachers and school community members are consistently oriented and informed about the health protocols. In terms of contextualizing learning strategis and modalities, learning resources used by the learners are aligned with distance learning to achieve the set learning competencies and standards. In terms of Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela, they have updated school emergency and contingency plans in relation to school safety and preparedness as provided for under DepEd Memo No. 32, s. 2020. In terms of legal context and finance, the school Improvement Plan and Annual Implementation Plan were revisited and adjusted to align with distance learning and BE-LCP. In terms of communication, they encourage parents through the Parents-Teachers Associations (PTA) towards possible collaborations with the schools that can support the delivery of learning while adapting to the “new normal”. In terms of monitoring and evaluation, parents are actively involved in monitoring their children’s performance.
