Pagkukuwento at Maikling Pelikula: Epekto sa Kasanayan sa Pakikinig

Abstract:

This quasi-experimental study method aims to determine the level of listening skills using storytelling and watching a short film of tenth-grade students of Mataas Paaralang Nasional ng Banate, Iloilo in the school year 2019- 2020. The participants were eighty (80) 10th-grade students consisting of two groups: 10-Yakal and 10-Narra. 10-Yakal was taught through storytelling and 10-Narra was taught through short films. The design used in the study was “PretestPost Test Control Group Design”. The researcher used a test (pre-test and post-test) consisting of one hundred and eighty (180) items that measured the level of students' listening skills using eight stories and eight short films made by others another school. These cover eight subjects found in the curriculum of the Department of Education. Fairness and frequency counts were used for descriptive statistics. Mann Whitney U and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test were used for statistical inference. The independent factor is storytelling and short films while the nonindependent factor is listening skills. The outcome found that there was a significant difference in the student's skill level before and after listening to the story and watching the short film.
