Abstract:

Ginhawa at bilis ang dulot ng mga makabagong teknolohiya tulad ng Grab, FoodPanda, Angkas, at Lazada. Iilan lamang yan sa mga halimbawa ng tinatawag natin ngayong digital platforms o app. Ngunit sa mas masusing pag-aanalisa, tila mas matimbang na ngayon ang pinsalang dulot nito kaysa mga benepisyo sa lipunan. Isa sa pinakamalaking pinsala nito ay sa anyo at pagpapahalaga natin sa paggawa. Ang mga delivery rider na siyang bumubuo ng kabuuang istruktura ng mga nasabing platforms ay madalas na dehado sa sweldo, suporta, at benepisyo. Nais nating tasahin ang batis ng mga pagaaral ukol sa platform economy o gig economy, lagumin ang mga isyung kalakip dito partikular sa karanasan ng mga delivery rider. Pagkatapos ay magbabalangkas ng ilang panukala upang maisapabuti ang kapakanan ng mga delivery rider sa pamamagitan ng pagsusuri sa Labor Advisory No. 14- 21 na inilabas ng Kagawaran ng Paggawa at Empleo (DOLE). Sa kabuuan ng sanaysay, nakasalig ang mga panukala sa manifestong binuo nina Isabella Ferreras na Democratizing Work – hindi dapat kaiba ang turing sa gig workers kumpara sa tradisyunal na pagtingin natin sa mga manggagawa, kung kaya’t mas mainam na ang mga polisiya ukol sa pagsasaayos ng gig economy ay nakatuon sa mas malawak at makatarungang pagpapaunlad ng mga karapatan ng manggagawang Pilipino.
