Employability Status of Radiologic Technology Graduates of Universidad de Zamboanga (2015–2019)

Alqashier M. Perong | Andrea Dumpac

Abstract:

The days leading up to doing this research were due to the author's working experiences to have come across various subjects devoted to disclosing the work status and employability of Universidad de Zamboanga Radiologic Technology alumni. The author was struck by the alumni of the Universidad de Zamboanga's concerns on the issue of the employability of the degree, which inspired him to undertake a tracer research study. This is to establish research-based data and information on their job status with as much precision as possible and to accurately conclude the employability of the Radiologic Technology student's batches 2015-2019. The research output of this study will be treated as a reference for the curriculum and continue to facilitate the adoption of strategies to improve the Rad Tech program of the school. To comply with the authority standard, however, Semistructured survey questionnaires from CHED were used to collect data. The preceding research results show that Radiologic Technology Graduates have good employment status. Most claimed to have gotten their first job less than a year after graduating. It was also found that having such a degree only guarantees high pay after some time; it needs additional job experience and the desire to work outside the country for a higher wage. Some pursue higher education while working, while others work full-time at private hospitals. Communication and Human relations skills are the primary skills that aid them extensively in their profession since they often deal with and interact with patients daily. Based on the research output, it recommends that future Rad Tech graduates should continue to adhere to their faith in obtaining better careers because as long as they earn the degree and pass the board examination, landing a job in the future is as normal as it is, as long as they are determined enough to grab available opportunities. It also shows that it will contribute to their advantages if they are willing to improve their communication and human relations skills, as they often deal with people or patients in their field of work. The results of this study will be used as a baseline reference for the university administration and management to formulate feasible study, planning, and decision-making to develop effective strategies to enhance the educational programs' quality for the institution's development. This will also be used as a reference for future researchers conducting a tracer study to unveil other variables that concern specific issues, especially when they are interested in continually studying the Radiologic Technology graduates.
