Abstract:

The central aim of this quantitative non-experimental study was to investigate the mediating effect of self-efficacy on the relationship between academic grit and happiness among college students. The respondents, who were students enrolled in various universities and colleges within Region XI, Philippines, were identified to participate in the survey using a stratified random sampling technique. Descriptive statistics using Jamovi software, including mean and standard deviation, was employed to describe the students' academic grit, academic self-efficacy, and happiness, while mediation analysis using standard algorithm bootstrapping through SmartPLS 4.0 was performed. The preliminary analysis revealed that the measurement model is valid and reliable. Further, the findings revealed that students have high levels of self-efficacy and academic grit but have moderate levels of happiness. The study concluded that academic self-efficacy fully mediates the relationship between academic grit and happiness.
