Enhancing Grade 5 Learners’ Academic Success Through Parental Coaching in Science Self –Learning Modules in the New Normal

Abstract:

The study was conducted to ensure the learners’ academic success in Science self- learning modules at home due to the absence of face-to-face classes. Moreover, this study intended to continue to learning in science subject even we were on the fight amidst pandemic COVID-19. The intervention used was coaching the parents in science self-learning modules to enhance the grade 5 learners’ academic success in the new normal. The participants were the five learners of Grade – 5 section Jacinto of Tador and Masaglang Elementary School. The study utilized the simplest form of data triangulation technique which used a variety of information or data sources in order to increase the validity of results and give more detailed and balanced picture of the situation through pretest and posttest results, teacher’s observations and teacher’s interview. Results revealed that coaching the parents in science self-learning modules increases the scores of the learners. Hence, the intervention was effective in enhancing learners’ academic success in science self-learning modules.
