Abstract:
This descriptive study investigated the development strategy, competitiveness, and performance among animation production majors in Chinese vocational colleges. Specifically, it described the profile of the respondents in terms of sex, grade level, and home location; determined the respondents’ development strategy; identified the respondents’ competitiveness; assessed the respondents’ performance; tested the differences in responses when grouped according to profile; tested the relationships among development strategy, competitiveness, and performance; and proposed a student development program in vocational colleges.
The participants were 500 animation production majors representing a diverse range of institutions and academic backgrounds. According to the study's findings, the majority of the respondents were male in their senior year and were from the suburbs. Additionally, the survey results indicated that most of the respondents concurred with the indicators of development strategy related to long-term goals, short-term plans, personal interests, and professional development, as indicated by the survey results. Furthermore, a substantial number of respondents agreed with the competitiveness indicators concerning industry trends, market demand, and policy support.
A clear majority of the respondents corroborated with the performance indicators in the areas of communication competence, teamwork, innovative thinking, and technical skills as shown in the results. As to the relationship between development strategy, competitiveness, and performance, there were highly significant relationships on all indicators which meant that the better the development strategy, the better the competitiveness and performance.
