Employability of Bachelor of Science in International Travel and Tourism Management Graduates of 2017-2019

Abstract:

The primary objective of higher education is to shape and equip students with the essential knowledge and skills required for the workforce. This study determined the employability of Bachelor of Science In International Travel and Tourism Management graduates from 2018 to 2022. Specifically, presents the profile of the graduates; identifies the contribution of the program to personal and professional growth; determines the characteristics of the degree program taken, competencies that are useful in finding the job, the contribution of the work-related values to the demand on the job, hospitality and tourism hard skills that meets the demand of the job, and employable skills that meet the demand of the job. Descriptive research was used with 407 graduates as respondents to the study. Frequency distribution, percentage, weighted mean, and ranking were statistical tools used to interpret and analyzed the data. Based on the findings, all graduates were successfully tracked. Four hundred eleven (411) or 95.5% are employed. Most of the graduates are female, still single, and coming from the different municipalities of Batangas province. They find their job within 1 to 6 months after graduation, working full time with a job related to tourism. With regards to their current employment, the majority are working abroad in a private organization as front liner in a permanent position for about 2-3 years. In addition, most of the graduates are satisfied with the education they had from LPU, and they have the technical know-how needed for their jobs.
