Abstract:

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of the developed problem- based supplementary learning modules in Science 7 on students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The research data was gathered from 42 grade 7 students, four experts, and ten science teachers. The study used a quasi-two-group experimental design, rubrics, and pretest/posttest. The result showed that the control group's pretest and posttest mean scores were 14.57 and 18.33, with a mean difference of 3.76, suggesting minimal improvement. Moreover, the experimental group's pretest and posttest mean scores were 15.76 and 23.90, respectively, with a mean difference of 8.14, suggesting relative improvement. The teachers' evaluation indicated that the students' critical thinking skill was strongly manifested, while their problem- solving skill was moderately manifested. The significant difference in the control and experimental groups’ outcomes suggests that the use of developed modules impacted students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
