Records Management Practices and Quality Service among Barangay Secretaries and Treasurers in All Barangays of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya: Basis for System Review

Abstract:
Records management plays a crucial function in organization as it helps to improve accessibility, accountability, and
security in records. This study unveiled the connection between records management practices and quality service of
all 25 barangay local government units’ secretaries and treasurers of Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya. Quantitative design
and descriptive-correlational methods were utilized using a survey checklist questionnaire used to gather data. The
respondents assessed their awareness on records management practices along: records management program, filing
methods, filing procedures, indexing rules, upgrading of resources and facilities, and records management process and
control and their quality service along: records life cycle (creation, distribution and use, maintain and protect,
disposition, and preservation and archive) and information policy in promptness and accuracy using mean, while
Pearson-r was used to establish significant relationship. Findings of the study revealed that the respondents perceived
that the records management practices of the barangay secretaries and treasurers are “very high” with an overall mean
of 4.38 and standard deviation of 0.42. This implies that barangay secretaries and treasurers in Bambang are wellversed in the practices of managing records effectively. Their quality service is perceived to be “very satisfactory” in
all of its dimensions with an overall mean of 4.38 and standard deviation of 0.45. This implies that the processes
involved in the quality of service are effectively implemented by the respondents. It was found in the study that the
correlation between the barangay secretaries and treasurers records management practices and quality service is
significant, emphasizing that effective records management directly enhances service delivery and quality. A
comprehensive records management enhancement program is deemed and appropriate intervention to enhance the
least dimensions of records management practices and quality service.
