Abstract:

Acknowledging that Filipino millennials are dominating the Philippine workforce and evolving with the changing work environment, it is crucial to understand their inherent Filipino work values and their influence on organizational citizenship behavior in the workplace. This study explores the relationship of Filipino work values in terms of organizational, managerial, intellectual-achievement orientation, religious, and environmental to the organizational citizenship behavior dimensions such as altruism, civic virtue, courtesy, and sportsmanship. A total of 202 Filipino millennials working in the education, manufacturing, and hospital sectors, all belonging to small and medium enterprises in Lipa City, were the respondents. The study employed a descriptive research design utilizing an adapted questionnaire to gather data. The results indicated that Filipino work value dimensions, organizational and intellectual achievement orientation, were rated as very important, while environmental, managerial, and religious were rated as important by the respondents. The results showed that millennial respondents often exhibited OCB in the workplace, with sportsmanship as the dimension that is always demonstrated. Furthermore, the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) analysis revealed that there is a significant relationship between dimensions of Filipino work values and with the OCB dimensions. Therefore, the study concludes that an organization that engages its employees according to their interests and needs, provide programs that cater to their well-being, values their contributions to the company, and continues to support their personal and professional growth exhibits positive workplace behavior. These insights contribute to a better understanding of the Filipino work values of millennial employees and organizational citizenship behavior within the Philippine context.
