Raphy Abang
Discipline: Education
Abstract:
Teaching, indeed, is not merely teaching the students the right virtue but teaching for their development both in the academic and behavior for the betterment of humanity. In fact, this becomes a great concern of technology lectures on how to change the students’ negative attitudes in learning Technology and Livelihood Education (Jacobus, 2010). Thus, the focal point of this study was to determine the significant influence of competence among Technology and Livelihood teachers on the student attitude towards learning of 320 junior high school students in selected secondary schools in Kidapawan City, SY 2016-2017. Furthermore, this study made use of the non-experimental quantitative research design utilizing descriptive correlational technique. Results revealed that the Technology and Livelihood Education teachers had a high level of competence and the respondents claimed that they have positive attitude towards learning the subject. This study further disclosed that competence among TLE teachers was positively correlated with student attitude towards learning. The result implied that the more competent the teachers are, the more positive will be the students’ attitude towards learning. School and society relationships were found to be the best predictor of student attitude towards learning.
