Influence of the Principals’ Leadership Styles towards Teacher’s Performance at Liceo Schools in Laguna

Abstract:
Leadership is an integral part of an institution. This study aimed to determine the influence of the principal’s leadership style – transformational and transactional towards teacher’s performance in Liceo schools. The respondents of the study were teachers in different Liceo schools in Cluster 2. Results of the study shows that – the (1) majority of the teachers that are employed in the Catholic institution placed importance on their professional growth and as to the years in service, most of the teachers stayed longer in the institution because of they acknowledge the effort of their principal; (2) 56% of the employed teachers got very satisfactory as their evaluation performance; (3) inspirational motivation and contingent reward influenced the performance of the teachers; (4) among the two leadership style, only transformational leadership style showed significant difference to the Cluster 2 schools; (5) respondent’s profile – educational attainment and length of service showed no significant difference; (6) transformational and transactional leadership style have direct influence on the teacher’s performance in Cluster 2 Liceo schools. The development plan is proposed to increase the teacher’s performance in the future.
