Effects Of Project Elaro (Encourage Learners To Actively Participate In Recreational Activities And Optimize Health Education) On The Learning Engagement And Skill-Related Fitness In Mapeh Among Grade 9 Students
Aiza Rhea Santos
Discipline: Education
Abstract:
This study aimed to investigate the effects of Project ELARO (Encouraging Learners to actively
participate in Recreational Activities and optimizing Health Education) on learning engagement
and skill-related fitness in Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) among Grade 9
students. The study used a pre-experiment design with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest (OGPT)
model. The results also showed a substantial increase in learning engagement post-intervention.
Mean scores significantly improved from 2.21 to 3.90. This indicates that Project ELARO was
effective in enhancing student engagement. These findings support existing literature that
advocates student-centered approaches to improve academic performance. Moreover, there were
notable improvements in skill-related fitness post-intervention. Mean score increased from 1.66
to 3.90 across all components. Paired sample t-tests confirmed these improvements as
statistically significant. This highlights the efficacy of Project ELARO in enhancing students' skillrelated fitness. The medium effect sizes observed across fitness components underscore the
program's significant positive impact. This aligns with research emphasizing the importance of
physical education in promoting overall health and academic achievement. These findings
underscore the value of holistic interventions like Project ELARO in fostering comprehensive
student development and lifelong wellness.
