Teaching Strategies Employed by the Elementary School Faculty of Trinity University of Asia in Motivating Slow Learners

Abstract:

The teaching strategies employed by the Elementary School faculty of Trinity University of Asia in encouraging the slow learners come up to their full learning potential is the focus of this study. All of the 32 teachers of the Elementary School were taken as respondents. A survey questionnaire constructed by the researchers was the main instrument used in gathering the needed data.

 

 Fourteen varied teaching strategies were identified. The top-three teaching strategies used were visual presentations, artwork, and group work. The use of visual presentations was rated as very effective.

 

In teaching the slow learners, the teachers encounter a lot of problems among which were sustaining their attention, getting their active participation in classroom activities and soliciting the help of parents. However, the teachers were very resourceful in finding ways to address such problems.
