Abstract:

This study identified and described the caring behavior of fourth-year nursing students of the St. Luke’s College of Nursing ­Trinity University of Asia. With the use of the descriptive method, 210 fourth-year nursing students were randomly selected to provide the data. The respondents were classified into Type A and Type B. Type A consisted of students who enrolled in the Nursing program as a personal and first choice while the Type B students were those who preferred other courses as first choice. Data were gathered by means of a researcher-designed survey questionnaire. The items in the questionnaire were based on Jean Watson’s Ten Carative Factors. The results showed that as both groups of students carry out their nursing duties they practice the ten caring behaviors of Jean Watson though in varying frequencies. Out of the ten carative factors, seven were always practiced by the Type A students while on the part of the Type B students, five.
