Muling Pagtingin sa Ortograpiyang Filipino: Karanasang DLSU

Abstract:

Tatlumpu't anim na taon ang naghihiwalay sa ABAKADA at ikalawang alfabet at labing-isang taon naman ang agwat ng ikalawa sa ikatlong alfabet. Anim na taon pagkatapos ng huling DECS order #81, naeeksperiensya na ng mga gumagamit ng wika sa iba’t ibang larangan, e.g. edukasyong tersyarya at publikasyon, ang pangangailangan para sa repormang ortograpiko. Iba't ibang varayti ng ispeling ang ating nakikita sa mga dyaryo, sa mga publikasyong pangakademiko ng iba't ibang institusyon. Hindi kaya pahiwatig ito ng pangangailangang muling tingnan natin ang sistemang ortograpikong Filipino?

Thirty-six years have separated the ABAKADA from the second alphabet and thirteen years is the gap between the second and third alphabet. Six years after the last DECS order #81, the ones using the language in the different fields, e.g. tertiary education and publication, are experiencing the need for a reformed orthography. A different variety of spelling can be seen in the newspapers, in the academic publications of different institutions. Doesn't this imply the need to look at our orthographic system of Filipino?
