Trends in Language Teaching and the English Teacher Today

Abstract:

This paper is limited to a discussion of the rethinking in certain areas of language teaching that has been going on these past few years--a rethinking and a reexamining arising from dissatisfaction with particular linguistic views and pedagogical practices. I shall then, also attempt to suggest what the English teacher today can do, in the face of multiple and, at times, conflicting theories and techniques.
