Abstract:

In order to improve the reading and writing skills of 29 seventh-grade students at Vicente Madrigal Integrated School (VMIS) who lacked mastery of the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC) during the academic year 2020–2021, this study was carried out. The study utilized various methods of research such as the qualitative, descriptive, developmental, single-group posttest design and diagnostic test. The review involved the locally accessible scholarly articles in the different municipalities in the Province of Rizal, then retold by the researcher. The localized materials developed in accordance with Nelson Parker's (1997) methodical procedures for creating educational materials and the DepEd Order no. 76 s. 2011. For the considerations that went into the creation and concept of the localized learning materials, the Bloom’s Taxonomy of Cognitive Domain and Theory of Multiple Intelligences was also utilized. The fifteen (15) experts evaluated and validated the localized materials. This study concluded that the use of Localized Reading and Writing Material for Grade Seven (7) Learners enhanced and assisted them in acquiring the expected learning competencies and improved their English subject performance due to the significant relationship between reading and writing skills based on the results.
