Abstract:

Mental health issues among college students have become an increasingly important concern in recent years, particularly in China. Effective counseling services are crucial in addressing these concerns, but their accessibility, experience, and support programs require continuous evaluation and improvement. This study described the profile of the respondents in terms of sex, grade level and origin type; assessed the accessibility, experience and support programs; examined the differences in responses based on profile; and tested the significant relationships among the three variables. Descriptive method of research were conducted among 425 target samples from the research. The study showed that majority of the respondents were female freshman students from urban areas. The respondents agreed highly in universality and lowest in willingness, and noted the quality of consulting relationship the highest, but were less satisfied with the emotional support level and problem solving level, and were highly appreciated for diversified support, while new technology support was noted the lowest. The findings revealed that sex, grade level or origin type significantly impact the variables of accessibility, experience and support programs. There were significant relationships among accessibility, experience and support programs. Therefore, an improvement program was proposed to enhance counseling services for college students in China.
